Living Well for Your Summit: A Lecture Series With
Pat VanGalen, MS and Mary Marshall, DPT, OCS, CSCS
Lecture 1: Muscle, Body Composition and What They Mean
Saturday, February 15 9:00AM
Let’s focus on muscle, an essential part of healthy aging. Having functional muscle mass helps us maintain strength, recover from life’s challenges, and enjoy activities like travel, sports, and hobbies. It gives us the freedom to stay active, work, and play. Join Pat for an insightful discussion on how muscle can help slow biological aging and support overall health. Maintaining muscle mass is key to preventing conditions like diabetes, obesity, and frailty, and plays a big role in staying strong and independent as we age.
Lecture 2: How Much and for Whom?
Saturday, March 8 9:30AM
Feeling overwhelmed by all the information on health, fitness, and performance? Pat will simplify it for you, offering a practical and sustainable approach to movement, training, recreation, enabling you to continue to pursue ‘what matters most’ for decades to come.We can't control factors like age or sex, but we can invest in improving our health to push our health(brain/strength/play) span closer to our life span. Whether you're 35, 75, or anywhere in between, the key is to adjust as needed and just keep moving!
Lecture 3: The Pelvic Floor and Movement Freedom
Saturday, March 29 9:30AM
Ladies, take control of your pelvic floor health. Incontinence is not a normal part of aging, and it’s not something you have to live with. It’s both preventable and treatable. Pelvic floor dysfunction is the leading reason many women stop moving, limiting their freedom to travel, dance, enjoy sports, and stay active. It also contributes to falls and dehydration. Join Mary and Pat as they share practical tips, along with the latest medical and physical therapy treatments, to help you address and manage this important issue.
